Gaudi Releases No Prisoners
Mar 26th
New album on Six Degrees Records out on Tuesday, March 23, 2010
New York, NY – March 17, 2010… Six Degrees Records is proud to announce the release of No Prisoners by London-based producer and solo artist Gaudi. Gaudi will kick off his worldwide touring in May 2010, which includes headlining dates at big festivals like Joshua Tree, Shambala and Earthdance. No Prisoners hits record stores and online retailers on Tuesday, March 23, 2010.
No Prisoners comes to us after a very fertile year in which Gaudi toured the world, rocking dance floors and gathering fans with his unconventional innovative performance style and irresistibly floor friendly tunes. It was also a year where Gaudi was nominated for a BBC World Music Award for his Six Degrees release, Dub Qawwali (in which he added all new reggae & dub production to rare and previously unreleased tracks by the revered Pakistani vocalist Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan). That album’s success extended Gaudi’s fan base substantially, particularly in America and Canada, reaching #2 on the iTunes World Chart in the US and #1 on Amazon.com’s Electronica charts.
On his previous releases, Gaudi has worked to create his own unique synthesis, using elements of dub, electronica and world music producing tracks that have been mostly down-tempo in nature. No Prisoners is a very different and definitely up-tempo creation. Stylistically its primary energy comes from breakbeat influences underpinned with fat basslines and subtle live world instrumentation such as Oud and tribal percussion. The performances of many fine musicians on the album bring a human touch; with live bass and guitars, percussion, melodica, highland bagpipes and piano amongst others. The electronic elements, as per all of Gaudi’s albums, come from his beloved analogue equipment – vintage synthesizers, tape echoes and moog. The result gives No Prisoners the warmth and authenticity of sound, which has become synonymous with Gaudi’s music.
A highly respected line-up of featured guests add their international appeal and individual flavors to the album, amongst them; California’s conscious political lyricist and founder of Spearhead Michael Franti, who lends his emotive voice to “There’s Enough” and long established Brooklyn based reggae artist Dr Israel (of Easy Star All Stars’ “Dub Side of the Moon” fame) who features on “No Time”. Multi-million selling Italian singer-songwriter Elisa brings a feminine edge to “Brainwashed Again” and Jamaican Reggae vocalist Kenny Knots goes deep with the ecclesiastical “Strictly Goodness”. Other notable guests include pioneering down-tempo dub producer Dub Gabriel on “Barracudub”; UK Breakbeat duo Far Too Loud and emerging electro-breaks producer Tom Real; who contribute to “No More Blood” and “Bad Boy Bass” respectively.
No Prisoners as the title suggests, is an album made without concessions, each track uncompromising in the delivery of its sonic payload. It is a fresh and versatile album with the potential to become an original classic.

1) Bad Boy Bass
2) There’s Enough (feat. Michael Franti and Hardage)
3) Serious Ting

LATE NIGHT ALUMNI’S NEW ALBUM OF BIRDS, BEES, BUTTERFLIES, ETC. OUT NOW ON ULTRA RECORDS
Feb 28th
Of Birds, Bees, Butterflies, etc. Late Night Alumni’s sophomore
full-length release is available as a digital album and on CD on the Ultra
label.
Late Night Alumni–comprised of Becky Jean Williams, Finn Bjarnson, John
Hancock, and Kaskade–is best known for their 2005 international hit single
“Empty Streets” from the album of the same name. Released in the UK by
the Ministry of Sound label, Empty Streets garnered a strong underground
following, and has become a mainstay on dancefloors and airwaves around the
world. Their sound is characterized by an immaculately crafted production
style that rides between electronic and organic, tied together with the
angelic vocal presence of front-woman Becky Jean Williams.
The group came into being in 2003 when Bjarnson, who had already worked
with Kaskade, met Williams and the three of them began recording as Late
Night Alumni. In 2004, the Hed Kandi label made an offer to release a
full-length Late Night Alumni album. “At that point,” Bjarnson says,
“I knew the band was not ready. We were missing an element.” The missing
element turned out to be John Hancock, a talented local producer with whom
Bjarnson had been trying to “find an excuse” to work with for years. The
band was complete and began mixing electronic and organic elements for a
unique brand of chill that is easily distinguishable in today’s electronic
music scene.
The band’s first single, “Empty Streets” received massive support in
both the clubs and on the radio getting Top Ten Radio Play in the UK and US,
and reaching #1 in Spain. “Empty Streets” has also been licensed to
commercials including a spot for the Toyota IQ. Plus, more than a dozen of
the world’s biggest dance compilations have licensed the track, and it
remains the most popular and downloaded song on Tiesto’s In Search Of
Sunrise compilation.
Late Night Alumni’s newest album Of Birds, Bees, Butterflies, etc. was
recorded in various studios between Park City, Utah and San Francisco,
California. The first two singles “You Can Be The One” and “Finally
Found” feature remixes by top producers including Sultan & Ned Shepard,
Max Vangelli and DJ Eco. A video for the single “Finally Found” is due
for release later this month.
Late Night Alumni’s Ryan Raddon aka Kaskade is also a world-renowned
producer and DJ who has remixed such artists as Lady Gaga, Britney Spears,
and Seal. Kaskade: “Contrary to what some bloggers might think, Late
Night Alumni is not just me. But don’t get me wrong… this is my band.
But it’s also Becky, John and Finn’s band. Becky’s voice is the reason
we do what we do. Her style and character make Late Night Alumni
possible.”
Finally, four years later, Late Night Alumni is releasing its sophomore
album Of Birds, Bees, Butterflies, etc., which picks up where Empty Streets
left off. Signed to Ultra Records, Late Night Alumni is poised to get its
music out to a larger audience and to reconnect with those who have already
fallen in love with their ethereal brand of music.
